2013 GOOD AND BAD POINTS (So far...)

Today we have to evaluate the past year, 2013.
The 2013 have been a estrange year. Good and bad things happened, I get closer to people that I stop talking before, and I stop talking to people that was important to me in other times.
About the good things, I can say that I get closer to my friends and family. Also this year was a good year for my in sports; I practice a lot at the university gym and in the Bustamante Park. Other things that I practice were trapeze and air acrobatics in silk.
By the other hand, some situations did not go so well, I grow apart from closer people, and nowadays we don’t talk too much. That’s bother me, because that people is important and i don’t want them out of my life. I hope talk to them in a near future to settle our issues.
Furthermore, I like to say that this years I planned to do things like study French or practice martial arts again. Unfortunately for all the academic charge in university it was impossible for me to do those things, but I hope to get more time next year to do them.

Finally, the more important thing that happened this year for me was to talk again with my ex-girlfriend. We are not a couple, but we are seeing our chances. We both have changed the stuff that damaged the relationship, so I hope that if all run in a good way and things are right, maybe we can go back and by a couple again.

MY BEST FRIEND / MY WORST ENEMY

Today’s subject is my best friend or my worst enemy. I’m going to talk about my best friend.
I don’t know if I have a best friend, I don’t even have many friends, but the few friends that I have are the greatest.
To be a friend of someone you should have certain qualities.  Some of these qualities may are: be a good listener, be respectful with all opinions, be empathic and of course to have the ability to comfort when someone is sad (and if you make him or her smile, it will be even greater).
In the other hand, I have a good relationship whit people in general. Like I said before I don’t have many friends but I think I don’t have any enemy either.
Although I don’t have any enemy, I have to mention that people don’t instantly like me. People tell me that’s because I’m a serious person, and sometimes people tell me that I appear like vain person. These don’t complicate me, because after they know me, people change their opinion.
Finally, one of my best friends is Francisca Muñoz, best known as Pachi. We know each other since 2005 in the school. She lives in Coyhaique, so we can’t see us very much. Besides with her work and my education in the university, it’s very difficult to coincide and talk.

The last time we talk, she said she’s going to come next week, so we are going to hang out and catch up. In addition to that she told me that she will be study here in Santiago next year, so I hope see here more often.

The environment

Hello, today’s post is related to looking after the environment.
I think that a good place to learn about environmentally friendly practices it's the scouts movement.
I learn so much since I was a child about the care of nature thanks to my scout group. I learn things like recycling, to throw garbage in suitable places and not in the streets, and to recognize biodegradable things from the things that aren't biodegradable.
Nowadays I incorporate all those things into my habits. For example I live near to Bustamante Park, and I go there to throw papers, glasses and other things. Also, in the building that I live, people separate trash from paperboard, so that helps to.
Although I do these things, I've never joined in any eco-organizations. I have to accept that even I think that the care of nature is important, I have never made the time to do join in a eco-organization. Maybe I should do it, because I've always admire the commitment of people that belongs to any kind of that organizations.
On the other hand, we can do different things to looking after the environment. One of those things it’s to know which our carbon footprint are. There are many pages in the internet to know it. I did it once, but I don’t remember which was.
If you want to know how to reduce your carbon footprint, you can easily find many ways to do it in internet. But, for example, one way to do it is to buy second hand clothes.

Finally, I believe that if more people do those things, someday the world will be a better place to live for us and for those who don't born yet.

A COUNTRY I WOULD LIKE TO VISIT

I’d like to visit France.
I’d like to go there because it’s a very interesting culture, beside, is one of the oldest in the world and they have changed history many times, for example in the French revolution.
I don’t know if I want to live there actually, I’m still thinking about it. In this moment, I only want to know more about their people, how they live, their language, and of course their culture.
Like I said before, I don´t know if I want to live there, but I find it fascinating the idea of knowing Paris and the Eiffel tower. Maybe I prefer to live in another country of Europe like Switzerland or Spain, because many people have told that the French people are closed to foreigners, and more with those who don’t handle their language. But the guarantee of some body that live in Europe is huge, because all the countries are near each other.
If I go to France, I would visit the Eiffel tower, the Louvre museum, the Versalles palace, and of course the Notre Dame cathedral and the Arch of Triumph.

I’m not saving money to live there or even traveling there, because I have other priorities at the moment such as university, but when I finish it, the first thing I’ll do will be looking for a job, and when I have it, then I’ll  start saving money to my travel.

Animals and pets

When i was a child, i had a dog named Beethoven. He was a German shepherd. The problem was that he was always sick. My mom and I take him to the vet many times, but they never found what the problem was. One day I arrived to my home from school, and I realized that Beethoven wasn’t there. I call to my mom and she said that a friend of hers took him to the countryside so he could live better. Nowadays I have three dogs. They are all pitbulls, and contrary to popular belief are very peaceful.
Now related to the animals theme, I’d like to talk about to keep animals in the zoo. I don’t think is right in the conditions of our country. I´m agree to keep them safe in large reserves, such as African ones. I think that’s better environment for the animals in danger of extinction.
On the other hand, I’ve never been bitten by a dog. As I said, I have three pitbulls, and they never bite my for real, not even my older dog, he is ten years old and it’s like a puppy with little children’s. I believe that when a dog bites a person, it’s because she or he mess with him, or bother him in some way.

Finally, if I could be an animal, I will choose to be a wolf. I like it because they are very intelligent. They can survive in difficult conditions thanks to the help of the pack and to their hunting skills.

Mental health: Is Chile a depressed country?

This article is about the mental health in Chile, specifically of the depression illness. In an index of the organization for economic cooperation and development (OECD), our country gets one of the lower places.
A research of the University of Concepcion shows that the thirty one percent of the population will suffer a type of psychiatric problem in his life. The most common types are emotional disorders in females, and alcohol and substance problems are more likely in men.
Then, to give some response to the main question, the article shows some psychiatric symptoms experienced in mayor depression like recurring thoughts of death, felling worthless or excessively guilty, sleeping too little or too much, among others.
The author continues saying the big cost that it will be in the future to the entire world thanks to this disease. The cost is monetary, individual and social, giving as the example a research where a considerably part of their adolescents consider and actively planned to commit suicide.
However, he mentions some good news. One of this, is the progress accomplished in the AUGE plan (2004), where the treatment of the depression it’s a priority.  Joined to the previous, he mention that the early interventions in the young people will be crucial to reduce this illness in the population, because the adolescence it’s a critical period for the psychological problems.
Finally, he said that depression is similar in other countries, but here in Chile is a little higher. This disparity it could be for -in the authors word- the huge inequality lived here.

My favorite movie

I don’t have a favorite movie, but I think that one of my favorites is man on fire.
The movie take’s place in Mexico, and the protagonist it’s a bodyguard named John Creasy.
Creasy is tormented by his past, when he worked in the CIA.  A friend of his, tell them about the job as a body guard and he decided go to the interview. Later he gets the job, and he is hire by the Ramos family to take care a little girl named Pita Ramos. The family was rich, so they were concern about all the kidnaps that happens in Mexico.
One day, a group named La Hermandad kidnaps Pita. Creasy who was very fond of Pita decided to take revenge of this group, and hunt them one by one.
Creasy is interpreted by Denzel Washington and Pita is interpreted by Dakota Fanning. I believe both perform excellent their roles, and that help to make a good movie.
I think one of the things that I like more, is the film music. I believe that the music helps with all the dramatic scenes, make them even better.

I never see the movie in a cinema, but I think it will be great, because the movie has a lot of actions scenes, and maybe it can help to make the movie sounds great.
